LEDC Executive Director Wins EXCEL Award!
MannyExcelLEDC Executive Director Manny Hidalgo has been awarded the 2009 EXCEL award from the DC-based Center for Nonprofit Advancement!
 
The Gelman, Rosenberg and Freedman EXCEL Award highlights three outstanding nonprofit leaders in the DC metro area for outstanding nonprofit chief executive leadership. Hidalgo joined Executive Director Pamela Michell of New Hope Housing and Executive Director Eleni Rossides of the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation in receiving the award.
 
"I'm honored to share this award with my staff and Board," Hidalgo said. "Our collective leadership has helped LEDC energetically tackle the challenges facing low to moderate-income communities in the DC metro area within this still fragile economy."
 
LEDC Launches New Volunteer Program

Guess what? LEDC just started a new volunteer program, and we have a mix of on-the-ground opportunities for everyone interested in connecting with Latinos and other underserved communities in the DC metro area. We need your help in areas ranging from outreach to training to communications in our small business development and affordable housing preservation programs.

Community Groups Organize Ward 4 Tenant Rights Forum

trLEDC's Affordable Housing Preservation Program is collaborating with a host of community-based organizations in support of a Tenant Rights Forum on November 7th at the Emory Fellowship Methodist Church. Residents in Ward 4 will have the opportunity to learn from community leaders about tenant rights and LEDC's campaign for better rental housing conditions and improved inspections and enforcement.
